In 1984, with the support of donations from Hugh Lang, John Arnott, Angus Erskine and Iain Smart, the Club acquired an extensive library of Arctic books collected by the late Irene and George Waterston. This library numbers over 350 books.
We are very pleased that our library has now been given to the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS). It is displayed on purpose built shelves in the Shackleton Room at Lord John Murray House, Perth along with the library of Angus Erskine and the Polar Collection of the RSGS. SAC members can consult these libraries on request (please contact the RSGS first on 01738 455 050 or firstname.lastname@example.org). The catalogue of the original SAC library is available through the drop down menu at the top of this page. The RSGS Polar Collection holds many other titles.
Expedition reports written for us by SAC grant awardees are held in the library at the RSGS and some are some also available online.
We have also collated a list of Arctic weblinks which may be useful to those seeking more information about this fascinating part of the world or to those planning an expedition.
